A fairway-first design
TAG Heuer and TaylorMade have taken the Connected Calibre E5 platform and refocused it squarely on golf. The result is a limited-edition smartwatch that swaps the usual chronograph styling for purpose-built course hardware. The 45mm case is machined from black DLC-coated titanium, giving it a lightweight yet durable feel that sits comfortably under a glove cuff. Instead of a standard hour bezel, you get a matte ceramic insert permanently engraved with 18 hole markings—a nod to the sport’s ritual, not just a decorative flourish. TaylorMade branding on the crown and a navy-blue-striped leather strap reinforce the collaboration without shouting. Two exclusive digital watch faces round out the look: one inspired by golf course topography and another that mimics the fluidity of a swing.
Software that thinks like a caddie
Under the hood, the watch runs Tag Heuer’s proprietary operating system, an intentional break from Google’s Wear OS that allows tighter control over sport-specific features. The headline is live strokes-gained insights—a metric borrowed from professional tours that quantifies performance against the field. It’s calculated directly on the wrist, no phone or cloud lag. Automatic shot-tracking does away with manual tagging, and dynamic auto-zooming vector maps of more than 40,000 courses shift the AMOLED display as you walk from tee to green.
Golf-focused complications give you at-a-glance access to the numbers that matter when you’re between shots:
- Longest drive
- Next round
- Best score
- Last score
- Total rounds played this year
- Total birdies made
All this processing doesn’t torch the battery instantly. Tag Heuer promises 12 hours of runtime even with continuous dual-frequency GNSS tracking enabled—enough for 36 holes and a post-round debrief.
A luxury collaboration, not just a rebadge
At £2,150/$2,550, the TaylorMade edition commands a premium over the standard E5, but it’s not just a logo swap. The hardware changes—ceramic bezel, titanium case, bespoke strap—are substantial, and the software integration goes deeper than a companion app. This is a watch built to replace the handheld GPS or smartphone on the course while delivering the kind of wrist presence expected from a Swiss luxury house. The limited release lands in October, accompanied by a co-branded TaylorMade Spider 5K ZT Max putter and other accessories, cementing this as a full-fledged crossover for golfers who treat their tech as seriously as their clubs.
