Body Proxy Is A Unique Meta Smart Glasses Game From Tender Claws

Tender Claws' Body Proxy turns Ray-Ban Meta glasses into an immersive, screen-free challenge where players must impress AI agents with real-world creativity.

A game where the AI is your boss

Tender Claws, the studio behind Virtual Virtual Reality, Stranger Things VR, and The Under Presents, has built Body Proxy — a location-based immersive game designed around Ray-Ban Meta glasses. Players step into the role of a recruit at a fictional AI startup and must prove their worth to AI agents that watch, listen, and talk to them through the glasses; the agents then judge whether real-world tasks were actually completed. UploadVR calls it "the most fun I’ve had with AI glasses to date."

The twist is that there is no visual overlay at all. The real space and its props become the set, with the glasses acting as the bridge between story and physical environment. Tender Claws co-founder Danny Cannizzaro, who co-directed with Samantha Gorman, points to immersive theatre like Sleep No More as the model: "You are still completely interacting with a digital system, but for a large part of the experience there is no screen at all."

No screens, just a room and a voice

The current build contains roughly 100 unusual randomized tasks, alongside a rotating selection of peculiar physical objects that changes between venues. Producer J Noland notes the appeal of watching players solve the same prompt in wildly different ways: "You may see the same task completed dozens of times over the course of a festival, and then someone approaches it in a completely new and surprising way."

Challenges reward natural human creativity under pressure. There are no typical day-to-day actions with a high probability of being correct. Instead, players must be playful and improvise. The random, unserious tasks keep the tone fun rather than dystopian.

A spectator sport, for now

Onlookers can follow along on a physical screen showing the player's digital avatar and performance. Each run ends with a generated video report analyzing the performance and what it says about the proxy. Cannizzaro describes a "vaguely Taskmaster, game-show-esque vibe" that reliably draws a crowd.

Body Proxy won the SXSW 2026 XR Experience Jury Award and was an official selection of TIFF: The Market 2026. The project is evolving beyond the festival build:

  • Free-roaming version across varied spaces
  • Phone-based version
  • Webcam-based version
  • A possible AI-generated task mode using object recognition from the glasses

This demonstrates that AI glasses can carry an entire entertainment experience without any visual AR overlay, using sensing, speech and listening alone as the interface.
